Addison, TX – April 2006 – START International announced the release of its new Spirula hand-held tape wrapper, which wraps tape around wires, cords, or bundles with the squeeze of a trigger. The Spirula is ideal for companies who are spiral taping bundles of wires for containment, insulation, or protection.

 

The Spirula is manufactured in Sweden and originally made its presence known in automotive manufacturing, where it enhanced productivity in plants assembling heated car seats. It has been used for four successful years in Europe, but is now available stocked, sold, and serviced in the United States by START International.

 

This hand-held tape wrapper can perform continuous overlapping or staggered taping. It is portable and can be used by hand or with a bench adaptor and foot pedal, further helping it to enhance productivity. With variable speed control and an adjustable tape cutter, the Spirula can be utilized in various applications and with many different types of adhesive and non-adhesive tapes, including PVC, foil tape, cloth tape, and others.

 

The Spirula can continuously dispense tape as thin as .24” and as wide as .78”. It operates on a variable speed of 10 to 180 revolutions per minute. At 2.86 lbs., it is light and easily portable thanks to the ability to operate by battery, but can also operate efficiently from a bench top off of an AC adaptor.

 

This tape wrapper is a functional addition to any manufacturing facility or assembly line wrapping tape around wires, including a variety of industries like automotive, electronics, and more.
