LD5100 Troubleshooting Guide

No Power:

• Make sure unit is plugged in.
• Turn power switch on.
• Check fuse (21A).
• Check electrical connections.

Power, No feeding:

• Make sure sensor path is clear (not “seeing” anything)
• Move hand across sensor and watch light on backside to make sure sensor is registering presence/absence.
• Check relay for switching with presence/absence. (Light goes on/off).
• Test motor voltage.
• Check electrical connections.
• Confirm wiring diagram.

Feeds, Won't stop:

• Block sensor with hand, check light on backside, should be on when sensor is blocked.
• If sensor light works, check relay. Relay light should turn on every time sensor beam is blocked.
• Check electrical connections.
• Confirm wiring diagram.

TDA025 Troubleshooting Guide  

No Power:

• Make sure unit is plugged in
• Turn power switch on
• Check fuse (48)
• Make sure Safety Cover (14) is fully closed

Tape not sticking to carousel:

• Wipe down Carousel (1) with IPA
• Tighten screw on Lever (46) to increase length of tape placed on carousel
• Loosen screw on Arm Frame (42) to increase hold down pressure on tape

Won't cut:

• Clean blades (21/25) using IPA or equivalent
• Inspect blades for nicks and/or wear, replace as needed
• Using the two adjustment screws behind the upper blade, adjust blade inward by alternately tightening the two screws

Won't feed / Tape jam:

• Check upper and lower blade spacing to ensure the blades do not overlap and jam
• Clean Tape Bite (29) with IPA
• Clean Upper Blade (25) and Lower Blade (21) with IPA

Hand crank not working:

• Remove body (11)
• Remove Gear Cover (62)
• Check spring on Lever (68)

TDA025 Feed Lever Reset 

1. Turn unit over and remove 4 screws that hold the top to the base.
2. Using hand crank, cycle cutter arm until it is away from the turntable. (Make sure that the length adjustment is all the way back.)
3. Remove top from base by pressing down on the tape holder arm and pushing up at an angle under the turntable directly across from the tape holder arm.
4. Remove #62 screws from #61 gear cover.
5. Remove gear cover and locate #68 lever.
6. The #68 lever has a tension spring (a smaller version of #67). One end of this spring goes over the tab on the black base, and the other end hooks onto the silver swiveling piece. The tension should be such that the silver piece engages with the gear.
7. Test the lever by cycling it with the #66 handle. This should turn the gears and move the cutting head.
8. If successful, replace gear cover.
9. Replace top on machine. Use caution not to bend fan blades. Also, the slot on #3 must be aligned to fit over the spring-loaded arm that is attached to the turntable adjustment knob.
10. Replace 4 screws that hold top onto base.

If the above does not work, the #68 lever needs to be replaced. Removing the motor chassis from the base and sliding the lever off of the gear shaft do this.

TDA080 Troubleshooting Guide

No Power:

• Make sure unit is plugged in
• Turn power switch on
• Check fuse
• Check transformer for 12VDC output
• Check continuity of switch
• Plug transformer into known good circuit board

Switch light on, no feed or cut:

• Remove and reseat circuit board
• Replace circuit board

Won't feed / Tape jam:

• With machine turned off, manually roll the knurled feed roller (312). If it turns more than 1/8 of a turn, the gear (427) should be replaced.
• Remove the cutting head (550) and check for pieces of tape stuck on the blade or inside the cutter.
• Remove the silicon roller holder (533). Check machine and roller holder for tape. Check for missing, torn or cracked silicone rollers, replace.
• Check green, magnetic gear (528) on feed motor for slippage.
• Wipe down feed roller and blades with IPA
• Make sure the blade is all the way down and the cutter pin slides into the slot on the blade, not under the blade

Won't cut/ Gear noise:

• Remove blade spring (257) from cutter head. Inspect blade guides (258/259) and housing (507) for wear
  and/or damage. Replace as needed.
• Inspect cutting blade (254) for wear.
• Remove front holder (518) and check for tape stuck in gears.
• Inspect gears for missing teeth/wear.
